What 'flavor' of the Shek P'var would be good for a bounty hunter?

All my players except one are new to RPGing. My experienced friend used to play a lot of dungeons and dragons. So, every time they come across an encounter, he's leading them to kill everything (traditional hack and slash). So, now there's a group of Anoa tribesman on their trail to revenge the murder of two of their members.

Plus, they killed several men in Zuden. True, they were possessed by something evil at the time, but to the 'sheriff' it appears they murdered several of his citizens. So he's hired a bounty hunter to track the party down. Figured a Shek P'var bounty hunter would be kinda cool, but not sure what discipline he would follow.

Thanks guys.

Grey mage would be the "best" but only the Peleahn would have the temperment.

Not surprizingly Peleahn also have the greatest tendency to become renegade (IMO) as such a mage would likely become who accepted this task and carried it out in a Peleahn maner.

Of course a Savoryn would be far more useful. A little knowledge goes a long way. He could tell the Sheriff where they are and leave the catching to them - none the worse for wear and a little richer besides.

If you are feeling punitive, why not go all the way? Sick a well paid, highly experienced Temple Assassin of Naveh on them. That should cause some mayhem and malcontent for your murderous miscreants!

<insert evil laugh>

Hmm, I'll have to consider that. Especially since my 50 yr old friend basically threw a temper tantrum when he couldn't kill the big bad monster and totally dominate the whole game (the whole idea behind my campaign is that they are facing an evil that cannot be killed by 'mundane' weapons, and they have to quest to find an effective weapon to use).

I recall a letter in a RPG mag where a party member killed someone in a bar room brawl, and was astonished to be held to account, I believe the quote was "it's only a NPC!". According to the letter, he was even more irate when another NPC (local law) had him hung. 8O

As previously stated A Grey Shek-Pvar would be the best, however, don't sell the others short, with imagination the other convocations may be used effectively.
Peleahn is the most volitile if the bounty is wanted dead and only dead.
A Savoryn might have the easiest time tracking the bounty and with mind control have the mark surrender.
An Odivshe may be needed to deal with someone excaping by sea.
etc.

The bottom line is, it is not the Shek-Pvars convocation that matters but the spells the Skek-Pvar knows (to aid in tracking and dealing with the relivant target), his temperment and morals and the needs of the client.

Shek Pvar bounty hunters??? Shudder... 8O OK, everyone his own p-Hârn, what about a simple solution that would strike even more terror into this kind of player: a bounty hunter who can think. Give him some skill and give him some brains to use. Track them down and kill them in the night. no need for magic inflation.
No need to send grey mages riding on red dragons after a few munchkins.

Fight fire with fire. ;)

In all seriousness, I can see a Savoryan tracker. If he's attuned to Lyahvi and then to Peleahn, he's more than suited to the task, even if it is a little over the top. It would certainly make an impression on the PCs though.

That being said, how about a mundane bounty hunter reputed to be a mage, when in reality he's merely VERY good at his job. Or maybe he has a Savoryan artifact that he can use.

Wizards are pretty cool, but nothing says 'Die, Munchkin, Die' like a pathological priest. Use the six step plan; it's fun, it's rewarding, it'll get you out of GMing for the foreseeable future!

1. Gekrish's Guiding Hand
2. Dekejis' Gift
3. Eyes of Dekejis
4. Naveh's Cloak
5. Talons of Gekrish
6. character generation session.

Evil rules!!
