For all Lerenil developers, here are the details of the FTP site you can go to, to upload and download files from.

URL: ftp .sodan.com.au (obviously, don't include the space after 'ftp')
User ID: lerenil

Ask for the password from Paul via email, in case we're hacked again...

For those creating maps and illustrations, when it's time to layout the document, as Jeremy knows, I don't care how big they are. In fact, the bigger the better, because I can always reduce the size, but I can't increase the level of detail (you can't increase what ain't there). And an example, Jeremy provided two maps for Kerry Mould's Vil Abbey, one 16Mb and the other 19Mb. That was no problem at all, and allowed me to trim the maps while maintaining the clarity Kerry wanted.

So, Juha, when you scan in your illustrations, do them as large as you can; 300dpi is acceptable, but 600dpi is better. While the resultant PDF mightn't use that much (it'll be more like 200-250dpi), at least I'll have it.

For the sake of the other team members, however, I'll grab the files, and resize them to something a little more practical to download.

Finally, when uploading files to my server, be prepared for it to be a little slower than a regular website.

Thanks for setting everything up, Peter.

Do you want the maps as high-res tiffs or pdfs, or both?

I've left off the titles for each map (Ground Floor, etc.) for now; I figured you might want to add that yourself after laying the maps out. Do you want me to add them in? If so, what font and type size should I use?

Hi-res tiffs, please. The higher resolution the better. As I said in the email, 600dpi if possible. Leave off any headers of footers; include any map scales and direction compasses onto the map itself.

I always land on the sodansoftware.com website if I try to use the link. Is there any foolproof access?

Yes; don't click on the link. The problem is this:

Firstly, the HarnForum software automatically makes any URL clickable. Secondly, on the particular machine that URL points to, I have a web server and an FTP server. Because the FTP server doesn't respond to the request made by the browser when you click the link, it defaults back to the web server...which then redirects you to my company site.

The solution is to use an FTP client (WS-FTP, CuteFTP, FileZilla or whatever is your favourite) and type the address in. Then you will be asked for the username and password. I've made a change to the URL so it's no longer clickable.
