The number of members is completely unimportant to me. People can read or not read, whatever they wish. Since I'm not selling anything, I don't mind if there are 10 or 10,000 members, as long as those that participate enjoy themselves.
To call it "the number of members" is misguided, too. It's actually, the number of people who have successfully registered. It may be that they register, read a few posts and never, ever return. The number of
active members is really what's important, and that's pretty hard to pin down exactly, but pretty consistent, I'd say.
