I've spoken to Kelestia a couple times about writing something up but always time/interest/differences in campaign rules nothing ever got done.

I've talked artifact creation house-rules on the forums (and differences between the HM rules versions) several times in the last ?? years. I'm currently writing up something more extensive - containing rules, theories and some atmosphere.

It is still based primarily in HM1 methods with additional house-rules. (HM1 is the most demanding. Optional rules that make artifact creation easier are similar to later rulesets.) Probably <10pages - unless I may include some altered versions of HM1/SPv2 spell-write ups.

Kelestia and I talked about listing/locations magic items in Harn before once.
A section detailing example magic items creation could potentially be an option.

When complete (first section soon, extra sections probably never) I am considering a few options:
  • Release it for free on the internet. Kelestia can optionally take it from there to see if they want to fix it to fit their style/theories/work better with HMG/SPv2 - or just restyle it and resell it.
  • Involve Kelestia for the above first. And if they don't want it then release it for free on the internet.

Looking for feedback...

Its done! :-)

Just looking at whether Kelestia wants to publish it or not. If they do it than it will be in a fancy pdf format similar to the other stuff they produce. If I do it I don't know if I might release in .docx with the features docx has for getting around (hyperlinks and document guides which seem pretty similar to pdf) or if I have any pdf tools that can even come close.

Its good. It took a lot more time than I expected. Its about 25 pages including spells. I cut out a lot of "extra" stuff to make a gaming aid that is as generic and canon as possible. I will make the other stuff available separately but I like the idea of making it as generally and generically usable as possible.

The E-zine or the website?

I just went looking thru the links at "Knights" and http://www.designverket.se/thonahexus/ seems to be down at the moment.

The e-zine. The website seems to have folded, so all the back issues are now on Lythia.com.

Let me know if you're interested.

This has gotten way-way delayed. I have 2 MS-Word versions available and should have a formatted pdf any time now.

Anyone have a place to host this (these) for download?

Thanks!

Consider sending Leitchy a PM. I'm pretty sure he would make it available here.

I think Leitchy may be out of town at the moment. I'm sure he'll put them online when he gets a chance but meanwhile they are available at:

Ken at Kelestia has done a great job formatting the pdf in the same sytle as "Shek-P'var 3.0" so anyone with SP3 should see how these might fit together.

The word doc has everything that is in the pdf plus some extra stuff that didn't fit into a largely canon compatible document (the pdf version).

Quote:
This guide provides detailed rules for the creation
of magic items in the Harn Master rule systems.
It is intended as a role-playing aid for gamemasters
and players whose Shek-P’var player characters are
attempting the creation of permanent magical items.

Creating magic items of the type detailed in this
book is an activity for advanced mage characters. Players
and gamemasters should be experienced already
with the process of developing new spell descriptions
and familiar with many of the optional rules associated
with spell casting. For experienced mages this book is
a recipe list of spells and ideas for the creation of new
and improved magical items.

The inference being that for the beginning mage "the rules are a confusing mass of requirements detailing the many spells and skills they don’t have yet, and can’t get, needed to make the item they want."

Thanks. I just downloaded the pdf and it looks really good particularly the formatting and lay out. Looks like artifacts can be made inexpensively if you have the required spells and skills.

Interestingly, in the formatted PDF, the page discussing How to use the Enchantment Guide with HM3/HMG and other rulesets got cut off somehow mid-page. While posiably self-explainitory it would be a page of considerable interest to most using the guide.

I don't know how many people have downloaded the guide but a pdf errata for p13:

How to use the Enchantment Guide with HM3/HMG and other rulesets
Attachment:
Artifact Enchantment errata p13.pdf

...could be of use.

If I can get a fixed copy of the Guide from Kelestia I'll put that online.

The Word doc isn't missing anything so no need for the errata page for that.

Nice piece of work! Thanks! I just got the HMG Shek-Pvar, so the timing is perfect for me! :-)
