After finishing my studies on the continent, I'm in London for the foreseeable future (minus some random trips back across the Channel). I'm busy searching for employment, so I probably don't have time for a regular game (mores the pity), but if any Harniacs are resident in London, or visiting for a time, I'd be happy to get together for pints.

Currently, I'm staying down in Southfields (near Wimbledon), but I can manage to make it just about anywhere inside the M25 that has Tube or bus access.

Dear P-six,

I will keep an eye on this thread...

I reside in Oxford, but sometimes venture to the smoke to visit Borlik for a game...

Being 50 miles away is of course a lifetime for a European.. :D

Hi P6,

I can usually be persuaded to meet for a pint - in fact you only just missed a (small) get together. The best thing to do is float a date and a place and see who bites. There are quite a few of us scattered around London (and nearby) - but the sun signs have to be aligned just right to get more than two or three in the same soom at the same time...

Cheers,

G

I'm planning on a quick trip to Amsterdam and Leiden this weekend, so the short-term is a little full. However, since I am currently unemployed, my schedule is generally more open and flexible than most. In theory, I can even hit the pub shortly after breakfast, although its been a while since I did that.

Grendel, if you (or anyone else) with more knowledge of London and a more restrictive schedule would care to suggest a time and place after the 24th of August, I'm sure I could manage to be there.

I'll be on holiday until the 10th of September, but always up for a pint after that.

I'm in London fairly often (in Clerkenwell, near my office) -- I'll watch this thread.

Oh cool. Well we should definitely check out the Jerusalem Tavern at some stage - my favourite in Clerkenwell. Next to the old priory gates of the Knights Hospitaler (sp?)

I've been doing a lot of work in the UK, Matthias, but I'm still living in Canada. I've been in London or Manchester 3 weeks out of the past 12. I suspect that'll be increasing if anything, but it depends on how a couple of projects go. We might even wind up moving to London for a year or two.

Keith

That's practically next door to the hotel I stay at (looking out my hotel room window, I can see St. John's). I'll definitely let you know next time I'm heading across the pond.

I am generally interested in a pint with some fellow Hârniacs- ;-)

I'm planning to be in London from the 7th to the 9th - maybe 10th.

I have my late afternoons and evenings free, so I'd like to meet any of you guys for a pint on the 7th, 8th and maybe 9th. Rod, sorry you can't make it before the 10th.

Incidentally, I haven't booked my hotel yet - so if you have any recommendations for nice places with access to the District Line (the trade fair is in Kensington/Olympia). Budget ~120GBP/night. :D

Cheers,

Roland

Hi Roland,

I will be free on the 8th, 9th or 10th. Would be nice to meet you again and get some quick French lessons from you as well - I'm off to Carcassonne at the end of that week.

Dan.

Hey there,

I'm afraid I can't recommend any hotels, but I do work just down the road from Olympia - I'm just up at High Street Kensington - so I'd be up for a beer. There's a nice pub just off one of the posh Kensington garden squares near there.

Cheers,

G

Hi Guys,

Yes, it would be great to meet both of you. I propose the 8th - what do you think should be the time and place? I'm OK for something near the Olympia, but can change if it is not convenient for Dan.

What about the others? Timo, Keith, P6, Peter - fancy to join us?

Cheers,

Roland

P.S: Dan, I'll do what I can for your French but... no guarantees.

Unfortunately I can't do the 9th - NCT classes (learning about living with babies). Only the 8th (no good for Peter) or 10th work for me.

Cheers,

G

Olympia, or thereabouts, is fine for me. As is the 8th. I can be there from about 6.

Dan.

OK, so we've got the 8th, around 6PM, at (or near) Olympia.

Anyone else want to join us?

I want to, but I have to talk to my boss, and my financial advisor... (The same person....)

All mentioned dates are fine with me, so let me know when it's going to be.
Oh... and are we just having one (or more) pints, or do you guys fancy dinner as well? Might be important for deciding on a location. ;-)

18:00 might be a bit tight for me, but I'll try my best. It just means I have to get up & start work earlier. ;-)

Regards,

Timo

Hi guys,

Just thought I'd chime in here that I would be available on the 8th!

Great! That makes 5 of us so far: Dan, Grendel, Timo, Bill and myself.

Date: 8th of september (next monday)
Time: 6 PM
Venue: a pub to be determined in the Olympia area (Grendel, any suggestions?)

I'm game for dinner afterwards, either in Olympia or elsewhere.

Cheers,

Roland/Christophe
