The Next HarnQuest Sneak Peek
Thought I would post some teaser images for the next HarnQuest. It will have a large and dark Agrikan Rethem settlement.
Here are some images used as reference for the illustrations done by Richard Luschek. The model is created from the maps in Sketchup, the position and lighting are designed on the computer and the drawing is worked up to make sure it is accurately drawn. It is quite the complex. Luschek and Kerry Mould both worked on the model bringing the wonderful maps to life. It is a rough, so it is missing details that can be added in the drawing.
We are looking forward to getting this shipped. There is still a bit of work that needs to be done, but it should be soon. It was good preparation getting the mood of Rethem, which is also coming along.
Enjoy.

Cool. How soon before you can have the rest of the island done up like this?

That looks awesome. Can't wait... I just got Hunting last night. More Hârnic goodness is on the way, so I'm a happy Hârniac.

Looks formidable - a good look for Agrikans!
Thanks for keeping us in the loop.

It is only a stud frame and painted canvas. It looks good from afar, but the walls wobble when you slam the doors.

It's particularly poor construction for worshippers of the fire god...but they're not recruited for their brains!
Heroes should be uncommon. They just happen to be the PCs.

Beautiful, but this is supposed to be the keep of Bedenes. It looks like the whole complex would easily dwarf most of Harn's castles...

Yes it is huge and all built in less than a decade. The order must have some seriously good sponsors

It's built big, but as Sablefox points out it was built fast, too, and with slave labor, and out on the edge of nowhere. It was not necessarily built well...DeCoucy wrote:Beautiful, but this is supposed to be the keep of Bedenes. It looks like the whole complex would easily dwarf most of Harn's castles...

To another point by Sablefox: the primate surely counts as a good sponsor. But maybe his books need an audit...any volunteers?

When is a keep a Castle? Actually that's probably another topic entirely. May be i'll start one up to avoid hijacking this one.DeCoucy wrote:Beautiful, but this is supposed to be the keep of Bedenes. It looks like the whole complex would easily dwarf most of Harn's castles...

The images look fantastic by the way. Wonder if they're going to be worked up inside the computer or used as a basis for some good ol' hand drawn artwork... Anyone?

The hand-drawn artwork is finished, and it is inspirational, as always. Show that to your players and say "Your friend? He was taken up there!"

Strictly speaking, the keep is the portion on the right. To the left is a fortified abbey. In any event, the end result is very castle-like.

It is a keep - honest.Rich wrote:When is a keep a Castle? Actually that's probably another topic entirely. The larger building is the training house of the Master of Steel - mostly temple space and workshops and some priests mastering their craft (oh yes, and someone who might be related to Mamaka).
Re: The Next HarnQuest Sneak Peek
Funny thing about being a Harniac...the more product that's put out, the more I want. Kinda like munching nacho-flavored Dorritos.
So, now that the newest HarnQuest is out the door...what's next? Any informational tidbits on the next? I know Richard Luscheck is working like gangbuster on Harn material, so if that's any indication this year is going to be good, then I can't wait to see what's coming down the pipe.

Now that's a good question;
Is Richard's income totally derived from Harniacs or
does he have other sources of income supporting his lifestyle...
...and how much do we need to bribe him to do Harn 24/7...

Perhaps if he sold a few paintings from his website he could be prosperous and happy as a full-time artist: http://www.richardluschek.com/
How much less would he accomplish if he had to manage a convenience store to make ends meet?

Bedenes, then Rethem in two parts (it's 68pp - 40pp history/culture/politics/trade/etc and 28pp settlements).Kzintosh wrote: So, now that the newest HarnQuest is out the door...what's next?
