Hello,
Has anyone tried to incorporate the Vis element into a Harn game?
I suppose its some sort of super Aura element that can be harvested.
I would really like to include this into my Harn, so I just wanted to see it if anyone else had.

Not in Hârn, but in a setting of my own creation. It worked fine, and became a great focus for wizardy adventures & philosophical in-character thoughts.

No game mechanics, but I can assure: it works fine. :)

I like Vis concept in Ars Magica a lot. It yeilds a lot of low hanging "adventure" fruit. Plus it adds a consequence beyond fatigue. Vis is a rare resource so some tension is caused by trying to spend it wisely.

One take I had on Ars Magica Vis was to combine Robert Jordans "Eye of the World" concept of Aes Sedai, where the male-half of magical power source is corrupted.

So the female gender can touch, harvest, and use Vis without much risk of corruption. Men on the other hand are more prone to being defiled by Vis, so it is forbidden for men to become Shek-Pvar and study magical arts.

Men using Vis/magic are called Aes Sedai or Ajah.

Thanks guys.
How would you descride it, in the Harn setting?
Ars Magica has it as a super concentration of magical power, but from memory with a twist so it could be diabolic or religious.
I was thinking of something like the harnic Focus.

What I did was to link it to elements. I.e., I had several different kinds of "Vis". Thus: a substance portraying some principle of the element in question. Should work fine for Hârn. Very much like the Focii.

Although I have not introduces Vis in Harn, I have also toyed wit the idea.
I like the Ars Magic system very much.
For Harn, Vis can be as simple as an item or artifact that gives a bonus to attuned spells.

Vis (a unicorn horn for example) would give say, a +20 to cast Fyvria spells, and/or could be considered an attuned artifact for a Jorum. Highly desireable by Shek P'var for sure.

Nature provides plenty of sources for Vis, and the Ars Book has plenty of examples.

If my group had a mage, I would totally do this.....

There's a new thread about Ars Magica on Harn over at RPG.net
