I've only played it once (before the expansion), but, it was a lot of fun. I mean, as "fun" as a game can be when you know that it's going to end with the characters all having to choose between either recanting their faith or being burned at the stake.

I'd recommend giving it a chance if you're open to the more 'story-game' side of RPGs-- or are just interested in exploring it.
