Anyone remember this old-school pre-Gamma World sci-fi game?

I just learned that it's being reprinted on a print-on-demand basis by the original author. You can read a review here if you're curious-- or simply nostalgic:

I ran a Gamma World campaign back in the day, great fun. I don't remember this particular campaign module though. I based my campaign in a future Mexico, in the desert where flying and spinning agaves were a huge danger when travelling. There was no making tequila out of those man-eaters!

Metaphorphosis Alpha wasn't a campaign module for Gamma World, but rather a precursor to Gamma World that was a stand-alone RPG in itself. Iinstead of a world full of humans, mutants, and mutated animals, you had a spaceship full of the same. :) I believe there had been plans to remake it into a GW supplement, though.

My God, I think I actually had the original back in the day!

It's probably still stuffed away in some file that has been gathering dust for a couple of decades. Just goes to show you that if you hang onto something long enough it will turn into a collectable.

Now I just have to find it and the right rich geek at the same time. Perhaps the same mythological being that is going to buy Harn from Columbia Games!

If you find Metamorphosis Alpha interesting, take a look at Orphans of the Sky by Robert Heinlein. It always seemed to me that MA was merely an attempt to make that book into an RPG.
