When does the adventure begin? The text mentions it being a gloomy, overcast autumn day in Olokand, but doesn't say which one. Sir Kathel, however, has threatened to hang Everard unless the harvest proceeds by the Yaeleh of Agrazhar. Isn't Agrazhar a summer month? Also, what's this "Yaeleh" business?

Thanks

Agrazhar is indeed a summer month, but it's the third month of summer, and furthermore the first day of the year is the first day of spring, so in Terran terms, Agrazhar would be about August 20 - September 20. So, it's harvest time.

Yaeleh is the full moon, which occurs on the 15th day of each month.

So, start the adventure in early Agrazhar...I'd suggest giving the players at least a few days to placate Kathel and the villagers and solve the mystery before Yaelah.

Incidentally, you'll probably find it helpful to write out a calendar showing the dates of significant events (e.g., when each villager was killed, etc.). It'll make things much smoother when your players start asking questions.

Yes. The year (and the season of Spring) officially begins on the spring equinox. Summer officially begins on the summer solstice and lasts until the autumn equinox, etc. So the Hârnic year's dates is about two months and three weeks offset from ours.

(The weather tables seem to me like they could do with a bit of tweaking wrt. this; splitting the year into four seasons, they basically work as if the weather in early June is the same as in late March, etc., and that just ain't right.)

As an aside... there is a neat generic program which generates weather called WeatherMaster. If you search the Harn sites, someone (I forget who) created a config file for Harn.

You'll find it here on Warflail's site in the HarnWorld Articles section.

Weathermaster can be found here.

Another question. How have parties, in your various experiences, handled the nolah? Harn is pretty magic poor and nolah's are immune to non-magical wepons, are they not? So, hows the party to survive? Or, if they simply report the nolah to Sir Kathel, what can he do?

Forgive my ignorance if I've overlooked something, as I'm new to Harn and don't have my source materials on hand at the moment

Thanks.

According to the HarnDex, the Nolah can only be slain by magical weapons, but HM3 makes no mention of this. Pick whichever one works for you. :)
