For many years I've used Milieu Sim's Weathermaster. Unfortunately, after upgrading my OS, I'm left without an unlock code, and Milieu Sim have gone the way of the dodo...

Can anybody recommend an alternative as good as (or better than) Weathermaster?

I am very specifically NOT looking for a computerised version of the Harn weather generation tables, but something far more detailed (and generic).

Perhaps this does help?

http://www.kolumbus.fi/antti.lusila/rpg/gmtool.html

It can be customised to fit the 30 day-months of the Hârnic calendar.

That's interesting - link bookmarked - but not quite what I'm after.

However, I have, with the aid of a couple of list members, managed to get Weathermaster functional again... Thanks, chaps.

I'm in nearly the same postion. I just upgraded computers and would like to reinstall Weathermaster. I have, of course, long since lost my unlock code.

Is there any way to find my old unlock code or otherwise get around the problem?

Would be interesting to know, too. This would enable me to run it in a virtual machine on my mac. So far, it was and is still the best weather generator. :(

If you've lost your WeatherMaster key, you're technically out of luck. I'm not sure why Milieu Simulations chose to manage user licenses as they id. I lost mine when my PC crashed a couple years ago and had no way to reload the program. However, I found this thread:

http://forum.rpg.net/showthread.php?t=357607&page=3

In it a member provides a workaround to reset the 30-day clock on the demo download, allowing one to use the program in full. It works on Vista, not sure about Win7.

I would like to have something similar. I've been looking for some sort of weather program that would handle this sort of thing without me having to generate a huge table. It seems like a pain, and I want some ease.

I have created one in Excel using the Pilot Almanac weather generation chart. It generates weather per watch for the 1 year. I print out a years worth, make a handy reference book and use it to track the weather and time of character play. I have started working on a program for a weather system (in Excel) to take into account the terrain, currents, and prevailing winds of Hârn and showing weather in each 20 league hex on the main map. I am using the weather system found in AD&D’s Wilderness Survival Guide by Kim Mohan as the core engine. I am not sure how it will turn out in the end. Hopefully it will generate some interesting weather patterns over the island of Hârn.

Since the Venrive module came out, I've really started wishing for a better weather system (I too have seen my Weather Master go the by the boards, and it had it's own issues and limitattions as well). An Excel sheet might work, but I'd like to see it based on the weather charts in the above mentioned module (I am sure I don't have the Excel-Fu to make it from scratch).

Any genius spreadsheeter's out there loooking for some self-induced torture for the benefit of others? :-)

I don't have the Venrive module, but if you can post the weather tables, I can surely create a Excel sheet. I have much Excel-Fu. I am MS certified instructor.

Probably not what the original poster wants but others might find something to work with at:

Santolla, there are a few of them (they actually have weather according to climate zone as well as the few places likely to have unque weather compared to surround areas, Azadmere for example). I can get you something in a few days most likely, but I'll need to type up the charts into something you can use. Should I just do it in Excel? (I have some Excel-Fu, but am no master for sure by any means). :-) Feel free to PM me if that's easier.

You can send them in any format you wish, xls, txt, doc, pdf, etc. Whatever is easy for you.

Can you also PM me one of the copy of this weather generation spreadsheet? I am working on the same project and this copy will surely help me in that. Thanks in advance.
