I need help interpreting a symbol on the K6 map square for Kaldor.

In the NE corner due east of Qualdris and NE of Kobing is a swamp. On the north edge of the swamp is a small lake, and north of that is a green down-triangle with a label name.

What does that indicate? Is that a Pagaelin camp? I don't think so. The Augur camps are noted elsewhere with the little hut symbol. Is that a Gargun complex? It is the same sort of symbol used elsewhere to indicate "special interest" locations like Gargun complexes or Earthmaster sites or whatever else.

This is really bugging me. I don't care if the answer is canon. If the only canon answer is "it is called ____" and I can make it into anything I want to, great. I'll run with it and have fun. If the location is already mapped or referenced in some fanon piece, I'd love to know so I can delve into that material.

This is not the only one on the Kaldor maps.
  • L5 -- top left there are two, named Bridgeway and Kazona Lodge, both on the Silver Way
  • K5 -- top left in Kirsta Marsh near the unfortified abbey of Ascur, named Bromella
  • K5 -- north of Sirendel, named Parikyg
  • K5 -- south of Nenda, named Khax

The one you are looking at is named Maerin (logical given it's on the Maer River/Creek/Stream). I'll go out on a limb here and make a wild-assed guess, but I think they might all be abandoned Khuzan kygs. A kyg is a mine and lodge, and is hidden underground. Kerry wrote about one under Caer Gardiren: Irkhar Kyg.

And obviously, the Kaldoran town of Kyg takes its name from these structures, although it's a solid bet than most residents of that town are unaware of that fact. :)

There you go, something fairly logical that provides some constraints, but still gives you plenty to play with.

Most of these are described in the Kaldor kingdom module, either under the appropriate forest hundred (Kaldor 19-20) or the settlement page (Khax, for instance, is described under Pendeth, on Kaldor 41). The two on the Silver Way are described in the the Silver Way article.

Thanks a lot! This is golden!

I'm already churning up some ideas regarding this place, which I'll explore on the other thread.
