I only put that in to shock our genteel American cousins (How on earth a stereotype of Vulgarity is applied to Americans I do not know...they are the least vulgar/ most prudish people I have ever met. I blame Dickens and Oscar Wilde.) Anyhooooo's.
Whilst on yet another wonderful re-enactment day at Kenilworth castle with the Kids (Yadda Yadda it is all I seem to do with them I know); the Gong Farmer (also a lecturer on Bio-science at Liecester University

) delighted my children by showing them a medieval toilet (A board with a hole in it) and the 'toilet paper' that was used (Moss and Linen mostly).
This got me to thinking...wouldn't people (i.e. P.c's) be a bit more obsessed with carrying their own stocks in case they are caught short? I mean the possibility of finding a place with available stocks of moss and linen would be miniscule...(kind of like taking a vacation in Europe. Just thought I would add that for balance). So from now on all my Pc's will be armed with twenty strips of linen. Come in handy for wound dressings too. (Before use in the Jakes obviously

)
Another thing that got me thinking was the extensive use of 'pulling' at legs/arms the weapons re-enactors seemed obsessed with with pikes/axes etc...but maybe I shall open another thread on that one....
