Yeah, I'm right here. Reading busily, not drawing that busily. Buildin' up momentum, so to say. One or two pics promised, no preferences yet...

BTW - uthris, your drawings are truly magnificent!

No (real) rush (yet). Take your time and decide what really interests you.

Now the pencils of Baroness Laowyn are close to done. http://www.helsinki.fi/~jamakkon/gallery/illustrations/index.html

The chair is from her family. There are two ravens on the top of the backrest. The other one has not been drawn yet. The light will come from the left. Inside the keep the light is likely to be quite bad though she is close to a window. The shadows will be, I think, rather dark.

I just notice her foot looks funny because of a fold. I need to sort that out.

Now, the portrait of Baroness Laowyn is finished... or I'll sleep over it first.

I have also started on a sketch of Falyd Kordis. I might put armor on him, though.

Ravens are evil? They weren't in The Hobbit! Laowyn looks good so far. I look forward to your detailing of the chair and her robes.

RE Caer Lerenil: The standard ground-level view is good as an establishing shot: something you can show to the PCs as they approach. "This is what the keep looks like."

On the other hand, a birds-eye view might be interesting, and reveal a bit of what is inside the wall. Maybe a view of the keep and courtyard from the gatehouse roof, or an upper Golsin tower window (not necessarily framed by a window, but from that perspective). A birds-eye view is a good choice if the view from the river (pic 1) has a good depiction of the keep exterior.

Your choice.

The landscape pencils are nearly finished. The ramp of the shipwright, the planks of of the docks, the talbar and minor details here and there need a little work.

http://www.helsinki.fi/~jamakkon/gallery/illustrations/lerenil.html

The current scan shows only the village center. This might be what the final piece will contain. I am not sure yet.

Oh, I think I have to enlarge the cathedral. I does not quite "dominate". :D

Don't worry about "dominate"; I took that out of the write-up. Good eye, though!

You might make the church a two-story stone structure, though.

The Lerenil landscape is finished a lot later than I planned.

http://www.helsinki.fi/~jamakkon/gallery/illustrations/lerenil.html

It turned out to be something different than I had in mind, too (Had to drop that composition-thing. :)) My inking needs a lot of practice: I seem to be unable to use clean white space as a "paint". Practice, practice, practice.

Anyway, unless there are suggestions, I will upload the file later tonight.

Next, the lord Salagys. I might go for a simple portrait.

I think I could do a small line drawing of the River's end if that is of any use.

It looks quite good, but the river does dominate the scene, doesn't it? ;)

It would be of use, yes. By all means!
Thumbnail is great.

Salagys is now inked and finished.

http://www.helsinki.fi/~jamakkon/gallery/illustrations/lerenil.html

I will do a only a small piece on River's End as my wrist is cramping from cross-hatching :) . I hope it will not be published as a large one.

Excellent! You're a real trouper. Thanks for your hard work. As you can see in the forum, I'm showing you off.

(RE the baron: That is Harrison Ford's mouth and nose, isn't it? :P)

You sound like you're pushing yourself a bit. Don't rush on to another picture. Take a week off. Have a merry Christmas. Rest up, and regain your enthusiasm. As long as Peter knows what subject you're doing and what size the pic will be, he can lay out the article around the blank until you're finished (and I think we have a few weeks yet before he'll be ready to start anyway).

I haven't asked for pics in any order, leaving it to you, but if you do have but one or two more drawing in you, I'd rather see you work on something from Sophia's pottery sections (either a picture of Uthr's Pottery or a drawing for her guild article). That's more important than the inn. (And we already have one drawing set there). It's up to you, of course.

No, it is not! What is it with you people? You see celebrities everywhere. :D

I don't use celebrities. Often, I don't even use reference, except for the light.

A quick portrait of Keffer coming up in a couple of minutes.

You mean you didn't model Laowyn on Posh Spice? I saw it at once, you know.

Oh, go back and reread my post immediately above yours. I added stuff while you were reading it.

Okay, okay. You got me.

I suggest you scale Keffer's portrait to small size. It does not "lend itself" to close inspection.

I was going to get back to Pottery and Hodiri thing after Christmas and see first what Thamias and Ilkka will whip up. But I'd like to close the book on Lerenil. :)

Well, of course...there is Salagys Legith, and over there is Uthr...what? You mean they are not celebrities?

It is fantastic stuff, Juha. Absolutely brilliant. Thanks!

And that cramp was a joke. It's my neck that's aching. :)

Thank you for writing Lerenil. This project has been a turning point in my life. There will not be another Lerenil, because during this one I found a motivation to do "art" again (I still kind of avoid using that word. I do drawings and that's it).

It might not show, but I am very happy. :)

Oh, speaking of the pottery article, OtherMatthias is creating a pic of the Potter's Guild badge for that article. I'd rather do that than scan something in from a CGI publication (which, it seems to me, would abuse their generosity).

Okay, I think I am done with Lerenil art. I did not do that River's End, but I added some of new portraits as well as some from the "pool". They are suggestions, so it is up to you to decide who's who and what's what. I won't be hurt.

http://www.helsinki.fi/~jamakkon/gallery/illustrations/lerenil.html

EDIT: I hope most of the these portraits will be in in low resolution - like thumbnails. They do not bear closer look.

I'm happy it has re-awakend your creative passion. You are very talented.

OTOH, I hope "there will not be another Lerenil" doesn't mean you're leaving the Harn art scene when you just got here (but if it means you're moving on to more personally rewarding projects, I encourage it and wish you well).

Thank you for the kind words, Paul.

The remark I made was just a cryptic way of saying: "I'm not likely to reach this kind of frenzy again." But if that is to happen, I hope I'll get my dissertation done before that. But I am not going anywhere.

They look pretty good to me! I wouldn't worry, although I think they won't be very large in the final version...
