The abbey at Abriel is surrounded by the rich agricultural lands of Nelafayn Hundred (qv) and is the seat of the Laranian Bishop of Nurez, as well as the Hundred’s Moot seat. The current bishop is a deeply spiritual and idealistic man, and his pacifist beliefs put him at odds with most of the Laranian clergy, including the Archbishop of Kaldor in Caleme but most especially the knights and officers of the Order of the Lady of Paladins.
