Azeryani peoples in Dalanya

The Kingdoms of Menema and Vitho are both essentially Azeryani in nature and culture. When Dalanya politically broke away from the Empire in 524 TR, if anything this strengthened the cultural connections between the region and the Azeryani homelands. Well aware of their status as provincials in a cultural backwater, the Vithans and Menemans have worked hard to maintain their Azeryani customs and lifestyle. This has led to a stagnation of the local culture; while Azeryani culture has evolved over the previous two centuries, the Vithan and Meneman versions have remained almost unchanged. Many of the reforms initiated by the emperor Hazura Desmarius (r. 502-524 TR) never reached Dalanya. While Azeryani think of Menemans and Vithans as something of provincial hicks, the Menemans and Vithans see themselves as preservers of traditional Azeryani culture.

Despite their status as rebellious provinces their is much commerce between the Empire and these two kingdoms. Citizens of either kingdom are able to travel in the Empire without difficulty, and the reverse is also true
