This adventure is for 2-4 characters of begining to medium skill either in the legion, or visiting the town of Fobin on legitimate business. It is not recommended for escaped slaves, navehians or nationals with problems with the law, for a successful conclusion to this adventure will necessitate some assistance from the legionnaires of the Caer. This adventure has three plots which overlap and are (with a little imagination) linked. The idea is that the PCs may discover a murderer and a master thief and successfully accuse them of previous crimes, but of the most current crime - they are innocent. Such plots may not be to all PC's tastes. Feel free to modify, divide or add where needed. Many of the characters in Fobin and the legion should be available in the character section of this web page.

The Place
The Green Gate inn caters primarily to officers, merchants, their family and their equestrian friends. Being welcomed into the bar means you have entered the equestrian level of society in this small legion town. As such, when something goes wrong in this quiet bar, Those who are not welcome are often removed forcibly and quickly. An officer, made bankrupt or at least no longer welcome at the Green Gate may hire the PCs to find out why. Perhaps someone is slandering him, or worse yet, blackmailing someone in his family. Until his cash begins to flow once more he cannot pay, but he will always be in the deepest gratitude of the PCs.
The officers currently serving at Fobin are often found here during their off-hours. Without exception, none of the officers have official family, but a few have local girls which they court frequently; Fobin is not a settlement town. The inn is ripe with the gossip of whom is cheating on who and why. Few believe all the tales, but it does make for a very lively conversation. About once a fortnight a small duel or fist-fight (the upper-class version of a brawl) will break out where someone will slander someone-else's honor. But the duels are never to the death, and even the fist fights are carefully regulated by friends of the combatants.
To add to the confusion, officers of equal rank may fight - but officers of different rank may not. An officer is responisble for the actions of all the men beneath him while on duty. While off duty he is expected to assure their good behaviour while they are in his presence. If he strikes one of his underlings, an officer must have a valid reason (because I was drunk, or because he made me angry - is not a valid reason.) If an underling strikes an officer it is a flogging offense.
It Begins with a Murder...
Mitchel of Umar was the leader of the third cohort of calvary. A strong and burly man, he was not liked by his compatriots as he was considered brutish in his tastes and attitudes. Mitchel was a freedman working his way towards citizenship; but he acted as if he were a citizen already.
Robbery? Here?!?
Sylitia? Has anyone Seen Sylitia?
Sylitia and Quetius are missing and Palagus refuses to speak on the matter no matter who demands it of him. Their rooms are empty of personal belongings and no one saw them sneak out of town. Gallius is sick with worry and willing to through money at the wind to bring them back. Metha isn't so quick to worry (after all Sylitia is with Quetius) but worries that the slave may have killed her daughter. She wants Palagus beaten until he speaks. But the PCs have been placed in charage of the matter. What to do, what to do...
