Founding History (560-624TR)

The Balshan Jihad (560TR-588TR)

In 560TR the Balshan Jihad reached the quiet town of Fobin. While the invaders tortured captives in the Town Square, a fire began in a nearby burn. In the ensuing chaos, a some people were able to flee into the woods. From the survivors of the Balshan Jihad’s raid, came the founders of the Order of the Scarlet Veil who began practicing the rituals of the Ukenta. No Morgathian could enter the forest unmolested.

After heavy winter in 574, the Order of the Scarlet Veil returned to Fobin. Together the priests and the town rebuilt structures damaged both by the winter and by raiders. They also built their first temple.

Destruction of the Morgathians (588-593TR)

As a blood red sun rose up over the horizon in 588, the Order of the Scarlet Veil tore down the Morgathian temple with their bare hands - setting the discarded wood to flame and slew the priests within. The remains burned for three days. To this day, nothing grows on that spot. Coals from this fire were said to be added to the Eternal Flame. A few peasants were caught and hung, in an attempt at retribution - but it changed nothing.

When the local priests returned from a pilgrimage to Coranan in Agrazar, 593, they found their brethren missing, and the temple aflame. Only the Peonian riverside chaple offered the Morgathians shelter. The next day the Morgathian priests headed towards Coranan, leaving Fobin forever.

Current History (624-720TR)

Senator's protection (624TR)

In Larane of 624TR Senator Riacyn arrived to take possession of his villa just outside of Fobin. Upon learning of the starvation and rough winter Riacyn orders that an orphanage be built near the Order of the Scarlet Veil’s Temple so that the priests could house their charges. Five months later, Senator Riacyn had the wooden temple rebuilt in stone.

The Thardic Senate learned of the Order of the Scarlet Veil on the 22nd Nolah, 635TR. Senator Riacyn petitioned the senate for land for their temple and orphanage. The senate promised the land, conditional that the Order of the Scarlet Veil came to Coranan and prophecies for the senate. The Order declined.

At the Senate’s request in 651TR – Jalien, Senator Riacyn’s successor prepares and delivers monthly reports on the Order’s activities, visitors and prophecies. Although he never requested it, the Order has copies of all the prophecies they tell made and secretly delivered to Senator Jalien’s house.

Within days of their arrival, the local legionaries assist the Order’s members in building a low wall to help keep out wolves and bandits. The legionnaire engineers design and give the plans to build a large arena to the Order. With the additional workforce, the local barns and stables are repaired and improved, as are the Gatehouses.

The Five year War (661-666TR)

From 661 to 666 the Order of the Scarlet Veil fought with the Geishtei legion in the 5-year war against Kanday. At the end of the war, the Order gained a tiny land grant from a grateful senate. During the war, the Order acted under the direction of the Order of Herpa the Mace. The Warriors of the Bloody Maces of the Order distinguished themselves in battle, and their shaven heads grew to be a feared site on any battleground.

Start of the Military College (671TR)

To gain money after a hard winter in 671TR the Order opens its doors and offers to train anyone in martial skills. In return, the local nobility helps to build an arena, known locally as the College of War, based on the legionnaire’s plans from the fall of 653TR.

Acceptance by the Hierarchy (719TR)

In 719 TR a representative from the Orders of Herpa the Mace visited the Order. He was welcomed, and his people made comfortable in the keep itself. The representative watches, and partakes in the Feast of Balefire on the 8th of Agrazar, and is permitted to watch several rituals. He is even permitted to watch an Oracle be performed.

Without explanation, he rose suddenly and walked into the flames. He emerged blinded and scaled, but otherwise unhurt. He returned home a month later with a report that, in his opinion, the Order should be accepted into the Religion of Fire. Two members of the Warriors of the Bloody Mace went with him, and taught him the secrets of blind fighting. They also became his personal servants until he was so accustomed to his blindness that he was a better fighter than he’d ever been before.

The Agrik church is considering the Order’s petition, and has yet to reach a decision.
