Order of the Scarlet Veil
A Hieretical Clerical Order of the Eternal Flame
[Invocations
The Order has a few of its own invocations commonly used in battle. The following lists only the additional Invocations specific to the Order of the Scarlet Veil
Smoke of Misfortune
Piety Point Cost: 5, Level I
After 2d6 minutes of chanting, the invoker can fill a 3d6/6d6 (MS/CS) area with thick, noxious yellow smoke that smells strongly of rotting eggs. The smoke will creep along the ground slowly away from the invoker. It will last for as long as the invoker can remain chanting. Any who inhale it must make a 3(MS) or 2(CS) * check vs. Willpower or flee the area coughing. This effect can be mitigated by breathing through a dampened rag.
Wailing Winds
Piety Point Cost: 5, Level I
After a few minutes of concentration, the invoker screams. So long as the scream can be maintained (1d4 turns MS, 2d4 turns CS), the area is filled with loud moans and wails blown about by a non-existent wind. It is believed that the invoker's voice is used to project the sounds of the victims in Ak-Syt. The invoker looses their voice for 1d3 turns if successful, 2d6 turns if MF, and 3d6 turns if CF.
Boil
Piety Point Cost 10, Level II
The ability to spontaneously cause small amounts of water to boil. No more than a cup, or two may be set to a rolling boil at any one time - regardless of the success of the invocation. The priest must have a moment of contact to identify the water. While the water will scald, its heat is slow to transfer out of the water into its container(2d4 turns if CS, 1d4 turns if MS). Duration is determined by the rate of success. 1 minute for a MS, 5 minutes for a CS. If the invocation fails, the invoker's hands are scaled doing 1d4/2d4 points of burn damage (MF/CF). This is a lesser version of Searing Hand.
Find Child
Piety Point Cost 15, Level II.
Children, when frightened, are apt to hide. The invoker must speak the name of the child they are seeking, and concentrate for 1/2 minutes (CS/MS). They will then be able to walk directly to the child's hiding place and find them - knowing almost instinctively where they are. This does not work if the child is more than 5 miles away, or magically hidden.
Suffer Fire
Piety Point Cost 15, Level III
The ability to become immune to fire. Nothing but the body is immune. The priest (or victim of this invocation) feels the pain and heat of the fire - but suffers neither damage from the flames nor the foul vapors it releases. All hair, clothes and equipment burn away - leaving the body clean and purified. The fire will last until everything else has burned away at a CS, at a MS the fire will leave the invoker covered in black ash.
Pelean Blast
Piety Point Cost: 15, Level III
This summons a blast of super hot volcanic ash, which rapidly burns plants and animals, encasing their remains in 5mm thick layer of solid, pumice like ash, which is so poisonous that nothing will grow on the site. Only the true cleansing fire of Agrik has the power to consume the ash and return the land to fertility.
Silence
Piety Point Cost: 75, Level V
This invocation silences all noise passing through a 5d6/2d6 (CS/MS) meter radius. It is often used to separate the camp from its drummers when warriors not of the faith need to get some sleep before the battle. This invocation will last for 2d6/1d6 hours (CS/MS), but may be stopped at any time by the invoker screaming the battle cry of the Order.
True Vision
Piety Point Cost: 75, Level VI
The priestess enters a trance and orates what she sees. Usually it is symbolic - and may make no sense to the listeners. But after careful consideration the oracle has repeated a few moments from the future that will answer the question. If the questioner is not a follower of Agrik - the oration is very vague unless a CS is obtained. The trance may last up to 4d6 hours (MS), or be as short as 1d6 hours(CS). The vision will only result in a brief description of a location, activity or repetition of a brief part of a speech. YES/NO answers can be gleamed by the priestess from the feeling of the oracle. Only the high priestess of the order may perform this invocation and survive. Any others who try perish in the flames.
