Cyclopedia of Law

Description

Considered a master work by most litigants, it is also the most common work available in the Thardic Republic. Usually this is a volume of work, but parts of it, usually relating to specific countries or types of law (field, farm, serf, etc.) can be found in individual scrolls.

The work does not compare the laws of different countries, merely explains the basis for each and how each should be approached and used. There is no reference to bribery other than it is frowned upon in most countries and only openly accepted in Tharda, but that it works everywhere.

History

Written in the early 700s, the work is a combination of older sources with well regarded explanations of when and how the laws should be applied. The chapter on Thardic law is regularly quoted both in the courts and the senate.

The work came into favor in 710TR when senators of lesser houses began quoting directly from it during their orations. The volume was already well known at that time; having been considered a valued teaching aide to litigants everywhere and the basis for most known contractual law.

While a few collieries are also available, the Cyclopaedia of Law has no recognized updates or additions.
