Columbia Games Ltd. has a bad reputation for producing ... well - anything.
Delays in their schedules are not just taken by booing and hissing on their fan-list, but rather long rants about how long people have waited for promised product that, to this day, has still never been released. I won't waste any more bandwidth complaining, for you see - Columbia Games LTD is very aware of the problem; but since I don't have a solution for them, I've nothing to say about the problem. If you're curious, check out the HârnList FAQ - Question 4.1.
Here then is my wish list of published articles/modules:
- Papacies of Hârn: a series of books on the city where the heads
of each church reside. These should include detailed plans of the actual papacies
as well as in-depth history of the church as a secular body and how badly
it conflicts with city government. NPCs and plots should be half the page
count, with maps and descriptions being the other half. Image : The Peonian
Papacy - something akin to Rome (the city), with towering hospitals and chapels
full of hanging gardens and light. The Laranian Papacy - an impregnable fortress,
perhaps surrounding the Peonian Papacy? A ringed city with each layer having
special fortifications. The Navehian Papacy - with its many and detailed levels
below the church where priests are tested, and quite often die from the tortures
that lay within. And what of the papacy of Save-K'nor? Could that be something
akin to the mythic library of Alexandria? And Halea? And Morgath?
- The Book of Knights: either one module or a series of modules that
details each type of knightly order on Hârn, if not on the mainland.
These would include Laranian, Agrikan and Halean (the Solori) knights as well
as knights of the crown and knights of the robe. Each type of knight would
have at least one page dedicated to it to show how to make a knight character
(similar to the fashion found within HM:Barbarian). There would be new skills
and new equipment explained. There could even be a section on oaths and other
religious trappings of knighthood. It should have a chapter on how to play
a page, how to play a squire and how to play a knight - each with solo and
small group adventure ideas.
- The Book of Thieves: Further expansion on the Lia-Kavir and their
true association with the Navehians. There should be at least one page each
for: thieves, thugs, muggers, bouncers and assassins. Special skills, specialties
and new equipment should be listed for these dexterous masters of mystery.
While there are two very good articles about the Lia-Kavir
on my web site, I feel they do not go far enough. More! I say...More!
- Every Day People of Hârn: A series of articles, each one details
a person and his or her workspace. What does a farmer do from dawn to dusk
throughout the seasons? (All right, so that one's answered by the Penultimate
HârnPage, but you get the drift.) What about the various craftsmen,
millers, woodwrights, etc. The articles do not need to be long (maybe 4-8
pages per) and can detail one or two NPCs daily/yearly activities as samples
from which GMs can deviate accordingly.
- Azeryan: In my version of Hârn Rome never fell. The country
of Rome would be Azeryan, a decadent, decaying remnant of a once-great empire.
I would love to see this written up as a Hârnic Empirical Module, more
so than the fabled books of Tierezone. Once the seat of culture and civility,
it is now protected by its provinces who are independent of the Empire.
- Shoju: This is the equivalent of the island of Japan on Earth. A
place of mystery and mysticism. Do the same 10 gods that preside over Hârn,
preside over Shoju? How do they differ? We know so very little about the
island, it would be wonderful to see that information expanded upon. Actually
there's an e-group that was set up to do just that.
- HârnMaster Military: A book designed to show you all things
Military on Hârn. There would be a chapter per government type (feudal,
feudal-imperial/standing, kuzdun, sindarin, and viking) detailing the officer
and soldier ranks within each as well as their duties and obligations. Sidebar
text would contain "a day in the life" snippets as well as details
about the actual armies from the various kingdoms. What I'm doing with the
Alternate Army is a greatly expanded version of this. IMHO this should also
include information about weaponcrafters, armourcrafters, siegecraft and engineers.
- HârnCastles and Towns: This would be an expansion to HârnManors,
HârnCastles and Towns would detail how to create and manage the economics
of a Castle and Town, from its founding to present day. It would also include
samples of three towns and castles. It would provide random tables to create
occupants and detail how many manors are required to support a castle, and
explain where and why towns spring up.
- 1001 Adventure Ideas for Hârn:No - not the big plots, I'm talking about dozens and dozens of tiny adventures with several alternate ways to play them out. A brief description of something - a wandering cow, a crushed rosebush, something that can lead the PCs into a mini adventure (return the cow, get a prize, find who crushed a rosebush discover a murderer?) or just provide entertainment (the cow is obstinate and doesn't want to move, the rosebush owner blames the PCs?).
Ah if only there were more hours in the day.
