A young man, Orvin is one of the very few of Senator Orvis Acknowledged Bastards. He is 58" tall and of massive frame. He wears his grey hair shorter than Orvi, but suffers the same problems with it.
Orvin was elected to his post as District Legar of Kusem in 716TR. He was never in the legion, instead preferring to study politics and law. For a time he was his fathers clerk in Coranan, and worked hard to keep his fathers blindness a secret. Orvin is wealthy enough to keep the shame of his illegitimate birth from bothering him much. He does worry that his aunt Annalise is having trouble finding him a worthy bride.
Orvin listens closely to those who bring him cases to oversee. He prefers to listen than lecture, a rare thing indeed in a Thardic politician. His knowledge of the law is remarkable. He never refers to the scribes or scrolls kept near at hand to make a ruling. He is able to quote the law regularly without making a mistake. His critics are many, but those he judges deem he does judge fairly.
He is a strong supporter of the legionnaire land grant idea, regularly writing to his father about the idea. Correspondence between the two Asarns is long and frequent, their letters read like a whos who of Coranan and Kuseme. While Orvin tries not to speak much of Marshal/Magistrate Kronos, he has little choice as the man controls Eidel province and the nearby Eidru District. Orvins political career has a bright future. The man is a good speaker who often struggles too hard for the eloquence his father finds naturally. He fears that Marshal/Magistrate Kronos sees him as a little man who is not worth consulting. While his fears are unjustified, they still plague him regularly.
