Bonding House of Coranan City
Korthel of Wytel stands 6'68'' tall, with a fair complexion marred only by pockmarks from a childhood illness, blonde hair and blue eyes. He is a Master Mercantyler and a master potter who was a favorite with his family.
He is the second child of his family, but has no regular contact with his parents or his brother's family. He is not married, but does have an interest in Dame Louise of Weijik, who owns the nearby Baths. There is a lot of gossip as to when a marriage will be announced. They met when serving in the legion in Coranan. Dame Louise completed 20 years of service, while Korthel was part of the city militia.
He is a devout worshiper of Halea and is Law-Abiding, but few consider him fair. He is a master barterer and insists on coin transactions for city grain, regardless of time or circumstances. For those without coin, he sends them to one of the many usurer and/or mercantylers in town from which he receives a cut.
Twice yearly Korthel uses his official residence to hold a grand party. The first, during the celebration of the days of Halea, is a fully catered event with musicians and entertainment. The invitation lists consists of senators, and key members from the Guild of the Mangai. Gladiators are used as guards for the event. The second time is on the 12th Nolus, Korthel's birthday. The second party is even wilder than the first. The Bonding house is closed for three days after each party.
Korthel is afraid of fire. There are buckets of water at each doorway and at each window. He continuously petitions the prefect to have a well dug nearby. The Prefect is instead examining plans to run pipes from the wharf to the bonding house and provide a hand-operated pump to the local legionnaires.
