Born in Shiranan, on the 19th of Peonu (Aralius), Polan was the only child of Mertllia and Horikus Jeredosta. A sickly child, He discovered an early brilliance in law and history. He was trained by Hind-Allori priests in the art of politics and satire. Were it not for family duties, many believe Polane would have been the youngest ordained minister of the Shiranan order of the Hynd-Allori.

Polane believes strongly in the Jeredosta cause. A famed historian, he is in the process of writing a treaties on his family's history. It is, perhaps, the only thing he's ever done to upset the family clan.

Polane married a pretty, but poor, woman of the Cosele Clan to consolidate the purchase into the barge trade along the river Thard. Polane's wife came with a 5,000 denarius dowry all of which Polane is letting Herreta keep for herself. Polane and his wife are seen everywhere together. They are amicable and polite. Herreta is deferral to Polane in public, but to date they have no children.

Polane was elected to office in his 17th year, and after 25 years in politics, he was quickly elected to the senate in the year 700, just three years after his cousin's election. There were surprisingly few opponents in Polane's election.

Polane has officially adopted Petrius Jeredosta as his son. Petrius is a fourth son of a poorer relation to Polane, and Petrius Senior had nothing to give his son. Polane finds answers for Quarli's questions and problems. Polane also has many friends. His contacts and network of clients is legendary; so much so that it outshines Quarli's. Polane always has 2 bodyguards from the Guild of Gladiators (a small company in Shiranan who hires freedmen Gladiators (retired) as bodyguards, and then rents them out) with him at all times. He is a cautious man, who never acts without thinking. But he can act quickly when the times require it.

Polane has great plans for his family, and his clan. But he always pretends they are Quarli's plans. Quarli accepts everything his cousin suggests simply because Quarli knows he can not exist without Polane's contacts and knowledge. But Polane relies of Quarli for his protection and visible leadership. For all of Polane's knowledge, he is very much a shrinking violet when placed before a crowd.
