The Fuming Gate
A Clerical Order of the Hierarchy of Eternal Flame
The Order of the Fuming Gate has two holy relics in its possession. Both artifacts are seen as sacred, and are only presented to the faithful once each year. Pilgrims often come to see these relics in the hopes of gaining cures for their ailments or revenge against their enemies.
The Claw of a V'hir
This relic is located at the Fuming Gate's Temple at Tormau, where it is guarded by eight men-at-arms under the guidance of a Haragki of the Copper Hook at all times. They are to guard this relic with their lives.
The Claw is made from a small (approx. one foot long), heavy rock-like substance that is pitted and blackened. Its shape undeniably resembles that of a curved and pointed claw. In spite of its dark surface, the Claw sparkles brightly whenever light is near. Sunlight causes it to reflect so brightly it causes blindness in all those who look at it directly. The dim candlelight in the viewing chamber is more than enough to see the Claw as it seems to provide its own light. The Claw appears to be wholly fireproof.
The Claw was found in 672 TR by the Senesharil of the Fuming Gate. It fell from the sky and struck the house he was visiting, causing it to burn with an intense blue flame. The Senesharil suffered extreme burns retrieving the holy item, but survived These burns were taken as a blessing from Agrik himself.
The Claw is said to instill a powerful battle-lust in the calmest of men, and quiet it in those in a stage of rage. The item is encased in wood with a glass window over top so that it can be seen and handled without being touched. Praying over the Claw is seen as requesting the V'hir to wreak revenge upon the pilgrim's enemies. It is believed that the Claw kept Ezar, the Akarata of the Copper Hook alive against so many enemies and an uncaring Crown for so long.
The Banner of Balgashang
This banner is located in the Hyen temple of the Fuming Gate. It is not normally kept on display, but is kept in a special reliquary in the temple's treasury.
The banner is woven from a mysterious woolike substance that does not burn. The banner remains unmarked or marred whenever dipped in flame. The weavers placed the Reaper's mark into the weave of the fabric. This amazing textile feels and smells like wool, but will neither burn nor absorb water.
The banner is believed to cure burns and ease the pain of the elderly if touched. The yarn for this cloth was found beneath the fire pit in Hyen Keep when renovations began for the new temple. Rumor says there is more of this mystic cloth below the keep, but the faithful refuse to let it be recovered and thus diminishing the special sacrality of the banner they have now.
