The Fuming Gate
A Clerical Order of the Hierarchy of Eternal Flame
Songs and Prayers of the Fuming Gate
In the Name of the Reaper
This is a blessing attributed to Hodael of the Bloody Mace, a wandering priest from the late 300's TR who built the first Temple of the Fuming Gate in Golotha (then called Merethos). This piece is sung/spoken before the sacrifice of combat. It is also used as a marching tune.
In the Name of the Reaper.
May his sickle be sharp.
In the name of decay.
May the warfare reign forever.
In the Name of the Lord of the Four Horsemen.
May they ride and destroy all before them.
To pass through the flaming gate
May the tested breed true
To fight in Balgashang
For the amusement of the Reaper
May your blood burn
And battle-lust be upon you
May your eyes see red
And battle-lust flow through you
May you be victorious
And righteous in the name of war.
We Call You Forth
This is a hymn sung by a lead voice and responding chorus. The chorus of those attending the service, sacrifice or ritual sings the repeating lines ("We call you forth", "In your name", etc.). The song's authorship is unknown, but seems to date back to the 6th century, before the collapse of the Corani Empire.
Giver of Destruction
Bringer of Plague
We call you forth, we call you forth
Reaper of the innocent
Bringer of War
We call you forth, we call you forth
Witness this day our actionsUpon the fields of blood
In your name, in your name
Those we slay are for you
Our glory is in your name
In your name, in your name.
By mace, by whip and by claw
We rend, we tear , and we destroy
All for you, all for you
Victorious in life, and in death
War for the sake only of war
All for you, all for you
Grant us your strength,
Give us your courage
Give us war, give us war
Guide our hands against your
Enemies and give us war
Give us war, give us war.
The Redeemer's Prayer
This is said commonly amongst adherents of the order. It appeared in the mid 600's, sometime after Arlun's founding of Rethem. It began as a chant among the Aperani and Heruchai of the Fuming Gate, but has since spread to Terahni and even laity.
Blasphemer, redeemer, all fire in the end
Gatekeeper, Meat-eater, all prey in the end
At the gates of Balgashang, where blade meets claw
Reasonless Reaper, Redeemer
All burn for war. All burn for war.
